Friendly Preview: Malaysia XI vs Manchester City
Rajagobal’s charges are eager to spring an upset over a Balotelli-less Manchester City in what’s still widely considered to be a battle between David and Goliath
National coach Datuk K. Rajagobal is looking forward to using the positives from his team’s highly commendable display against the Gunners as he schemes to get the better of his more fancied counterparts.
“The Arsenal game has boosted our confidence. We hold City in high regard but won’t give them too much respect. If we play like how we did against Arsenal, I dare say that we could even snatch a win over City,” said a buoyant Rajagobal in Saturday’s press conference.
Rajagobal can draw inspiration from the performances of combative midfielder Gary Robbat and goalkeeper Farizal Marlias, which impressed even the legendary Frenchman Arsene Wenger. However, he has got himself a headache in the scoring department as Malaysia’s strike force will be up against Kolo Toure and Vincent Kompany at the heart of the City defence.
Roberto Mancini on the other hand, will not be short of options as he has the likes of Argentine twin terrors Kun Aguero and Carlos Tevez to spearhead the attack. They will be ably assisted by the powerful midfielder Yaya Toure and England winger Adam Johnson. Toure stole the show in the recent 2-0 win over Arsenal in Beijing with a commanding performance from the midfield. Robbat will certainly have a busy time marking the Ivorian.
With so many stars on show, tomorrow’s battle will surely be a world class exhibition.
