Hockey — injury worries for India

Given the kind of form, potential and fitness that they have shown recently, a lot is being expected from the present Indian Mens’ Hockey Team. But the news for them right before the start of the 2012 London Olympics is not a good one. Seasoned defender Ignace Tirkey’s sprained ankle and star mid-fielder Sardara Singh’s injured shin has left the Indian hockey team management worried.

Seasoned defender Ignace Tirkey’s sprained ankle and star midfielder Sardara Singh’s injured shin has left the Indian hockey team management worried ahead of the Olympic Games starting on July 27.

Injuries sustained by star midfielder Sardara, by far the most outstanding Indian player in recent times, and defender Ignace during the practice matches in Spain have kept the duo away from the turf for an entire week.

The team’s medical staff is working overtime to help Sardara back on his feet after a crushing blow on his shin from close range.

Ignace’s ankle sprain nearly saw India lose the most experienced player in the squad, but after a week of limping, he stepped back on to the pitch for a training session on Saturday evening, to the delight of the fellow players.

“We had a bad time with these two key players injured, but luckily they have shown good signs of recovery and should be back in good shape ahead of our first Olympic Games outing,” coach Michael Nobbs told PTI.

Nobbs said Sardara was unlucky to have been smacked on the leg from very close range during India’s first match of the Spanish tour, after which he did not feature in any game.

Ignace, on the other hand, had to sit out of three matches after spraining his ankle in a match against South Africa during the European tour before arriving in London.

“These two players have a crucial role to play for India and we were obviously concerned with the injuries, but they are getting back into shape,” said Nobbs.

Their workout will be increased gradually as India moves closer to its opening match against the Netherlands on July 30.

3for3 game

Slavia – Levski 2 @ 1,5

Slavia Injury: Yordan Yurukov (mf 16/2) Doubtful: Akioshi (mf 2/0)

LevskiSuspended: Junior (att 3/1) Back: Yovov (mf 15/4), Tasevski (mf 15/3), Calvo (mf 11/) and Da Silva (att 2/1)

Slavia and Levski will present us the oldest Sofia derby in Bulgaria. Slavia was on good run, but last round lost from 10 men Litex away from home, showing nothing special.. Slavia lost their best creative player Galin Ivanov – sold to Litex, also Junior – sold to Levski. For this game they will also miss another 2 regulars as Yurukov is injured and Sandaski is suspended. Levski is playing more than comfortable against Slavia, recording 7-3-0 in their last 10 matches here. We cant speak about home advantage as Slavia will have round 100 fans, while Levski will have huge support from the crowd. Guests will miss only Serginho Greene and suspended Slavia ex-player Junior. Levski will have 4 regulars back in the squad and probably all of them will be starters – Yovov and Ramos are back after suspessions, while Tasevski and Toni Calvo are fully fit after light injury problems. Levski will take the full pack of points here

Cardiff 8th, 58 pts, form 1-2-3

Coventry 22nd. 31 pts, form 1-3-2

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay has hinted Rudy Gestede (att 20/2) could return. Slovakian midfielder Filip Kiss (mf 24/1) missed the Burnley clash with illness but should be back in the squad alongside Darcy Blake. Stephen McPhail (mf 11/0) made a five-minute substitute appearance in the weekend stalemate after returning from Sjogren’s Syndrome and he will be hoping for a place in the squad once again. Craig Conway (mf 29/3) will hope to challenge loanee Liam Lawrence (mf 4/0) for a starting berth after impressing during his 27-minute spell against the Clarets. David Bell (mf 26/0), Hermann Hreidarsson (df 2/0), Richard Wood (df 17/1). McDonald (att 15/2) not fit enough

Blackpool v Leicester

Blackpool 7th, 59 pts, form 2-1-2

Leicester13th, 51 pts, form 2-0-3

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is set to have a full squad to choose from when he looks to break his duck against former club Leicester. Leicester midfielder Paul Gallagher (att 24/7) is a major doubt for the Foxes trip to Blackpool. Manager Nigel Pearson has indicated Neil Danns (mf 27/5) is also a doubt and will be assessed before the game. Midfielder Andy King (heel, mf 26/4) is back in training but is around two weeks away from being fit enough to play again.

Slovenia ND Gorica – Nafta 1 @ 1,5

Gorica same squad as before, they are good and must keep third position. Nafta much weaker than first half of season, important players left, no quality

RNK Split – Karlovac

Split is big favorite, they should be it but dont know what’s wrong with them. They have quality but. Karlovac loose imporant players, they bring new, loose on quality and Split in normal circumstances should won easy this 3-4:0 but i will not bet this on this odds and Split’s form

Sibenik – Lokomotiva Zagreb

lokomotiva playing great, they are stronger than before, bring some good players from Dinamo and really playing good. Last game Zagreb shout them just once. I would prefer bet on them but i will not this time, they are coming on south, Sibenik need points and Lokomotiva is maybe youngest team (i will not look now stats, but very young and talented squad) and there must be oscilattions. no bet this time

Zadar – Varazdin 1 @ 1,8 expekt (if they not fix 😉 )

Odds raisin on Zadar unbelivebly. From 1,33 to 1,73 (expekt 1,8). Maybe people means it will be fixed on away, h2h is suspicious for all (i can say they was cooperating) http://www.betexplorer.com/soccer/croatia/croatian-1st-league-2011-2012/nextmatch.php?matchid=6781697 but imo, there cant be cooperating any more because Varteks change people in club. Also, Zadar has some important miss Mršić, Con, Terkeš, Bilen, Ježina (but only Mrsic played last game when is suspended). Varazdin in big financial problems, new president come too late and there is no chance for them. Mrmić, Aračić, Rašić out today. They played very strange (i would say suspicious games), first leadind 2-1 vs Zagreb until 90 minute and loose 2-3 and in last one lead vs Split until 92 minute and it finished 2-2. Now unrealistic odds (Zadar always was home team and i belive they cannot relegate) http://www.oddsportal.com/soccer/croatia/1-hnl-2011-2012/zadar-varazdin-808502/ Now is big value on home side and Varteks (i always said Varteks, probably new chairman will give name back) can win only if they fix game

Zaprešić – Cibalia

In normal circumstances i would bet on away win but i will not after embarresing Bibalia loose last game vs Varteks. Hiosts without missings, Cibalia out: Nedostaju: Rugašević, Jonjić, Vitaić, Koledić

Rijeka – Hajduk Split

Rijeka het financial Injection (Volpi, Pro Recco owner buy them) and now it all looks better. Two days ago come Ivan Bosnjak, great striker but i dont know his form now. But, if we looking future, there will be some great projects and Rijeka will be better. Hajduk also not impresive, there are players with big saleries which dont deserve that and i dont belive in that team. If you want to bet on this, you can try draw. for me, no bet

Dinamo – Slaven Belupo over 2,5 @ 1,92 188bet

Dinamo won hajduk in big derby, wasnt played impresive and there is question how can Cacic motivate players after 13 points leading. There was some fioght between Igor Biscan and coach and Biscan is removed from team. Joe Šimunić is also out. Slaven showed some good games and they are greath 3rd but no much chance for them in this game. They are clasicall home team and today without gk Rodic and defender Grgic. Maybe is over best option for this game, they also bring two great strikers before last game (i wrote on site to bet becose them vs Osijek), Bojan Vrucina and Davor Vugrinec (Vuga need 2 more goals for record on domestic league best scorer ever)
