preview / line up

  Odense BK – Midtjylland

 Montpellier – Toulouse

Montpellier HSC

Herrera (att 21/11, Unión Espanola), Mounier (att 29/8, Nice), Congre (df 37/0, Toulouse), Charbonnier (att 30/12, Angers)

Giroud (att 36/21, Arsenal), Dernis (mf 20/5, Brestois), Lacombe (att 0/0, Clermont Foot)

Champs susprised last season by winning title but seems that this season would be harder than ever. Specially it means because of strong (as squad, as in financial segments) Paris SG. They must sold best player, league topscorer Giroud to Arsenal (12 mil) and they bring 3 new, seems quality strikers to replace him. Other squad is almost same, didnt changed much so it can be big plus. Two weeks ago they had supercup game with lyon, played in US (Red Bull stadium, New York) and they loose on penaltyes, 2-2 in regular. Good squad with good cemistry but seems like PSG is too strong this season for all. We will see

Target: Winning title again will be very hard this season but top 3 fight is realistic

Zebina (df 27/0, Brest), Blondel (gk 17/0, Troyes)
Congre (df 37/0, Montpellier), Bulut (att 31/5, Galatasaray – loan), Fofana (df 6/0, Reims), Riou (gk 0/0, Nantes), Deveaux (mf 22/2,  Reims), Loustallout  (gk 0/0, Rodez), Soukouna (att 2/1, Luzenac – loan)

Toulouse also keep their ‘team skeleton’. Only important leaving is standard defender Congre who is replaced by ex France International player Jonathan Zebina (roma, Juve). But i am little suprised that they didnt imporved their attack. They was scoring less than a goal per game last season (37 goals in 38 games) and they didnt stenght team with some offensive players. they would like more but my opinion is that they will have mid table finish.

Mid table finish is realistic (no matter they would like more)

For this game

Montepellier without: Marco Estrada (mf 30/1)m Younes Belhanda (mf 28/12), Anthony Mounier (new att from Nica, 29/8), Garry Bocaly (df 34/0)

Toulouse without: Paulo Machado (mf 24/3)

  Willem II – NAC Breda

Willem II

Snijders (winger, Vitesse), Jallo (defender, Heracles Almelo), Haastrup (defender, Helmond Sport), Hocher (midfielder, ADO Den Haag), Brands (midfielder, Telstar), Peters (defender, FC Den Bosch), Van Buuren (defender, FC Den Bosch).

Martens (midfielder, Veendam), Janga (winger, Excelsior), Gravenbeek (midfielder, FC Zwolle), Van Zaanen (winger, Almere City), Kolsi (midfielder, Celje), Swinkels (defender, Lierse).

After having played one year in the Jupiler League, Willem II will compete once more in the Eredivisie for the 2012/2013 season. For a long time it did not look like they would bounce back. Under new manager Streppel the team had to be rebuild last summer and as a result they didn’t get off to the best start. Despite having one of the best squads in the league they found themselves back in the mid table at times. In the end they did finish in the fifth position and as a result entered the play-offs for promotion. After beating Sparta in two close games they met up with Den Bosch in the finals. After an away draw they finished the job at home with a victory. The board immediately took action and strengthened the squad as they will have to step up in order to avoid immediate relegation again. Captain Swinkels left for Lierse but Willem II replaced him by signing no less than four new defenders. On the midfield Hocher already joined them during the winter break on a loan deal but he has now been officially signed. With Brands they signed another midfielder. All in all there won’t be too much changes in the Willem II side but Streppel will probably still be looking to add another attacker as they are a little light up front.

Willlem II will be happy if they stay up this season. They don’t have the financial means to immediately distance themselves from the relegation candidates but as other teams have pointed out in the recent years. Money is not everything in the Eredivisie and the club should be confident.

NAC Breda

Sepp de Roover (defender, Lokeren – loan), Mark Looms (defender, Heracles Almelo), Thilo Leugers (midfielder, FC Twente – loan), Anouar Hadouir (midfielder, Alemannia Aachen)

Donny Gorter (defender, AZ Alkmaar), Florian Jozefzoon (winger, RKC Waalwijk), Jeffrey Sarpong (midfielder, Real Sociedad), Jimmy van Fessem (goalkeeper, unknown), Milano Koenders (defender, Heracles Almelo), Nourdin Boukhari (striker, unknown), Ömer Bayram (winger, Kayserispor), Robbert Schilder (midfielder, FC Twente), Roly Bonevacia (midfielder, Ajax), Santi Kolk (striker, Union Berlin), Stefano Seedorf (midfielder, unknown), Youssef El-Akchaoui (defender, SC Heerenveen)

NAC Breda didn’t perform well last season. John Karelse’s outfit even got involved in the bottom half of the table and they had to fight to avoid relegation football at the end of the day. The 13th spot was more than enough to secure Eredivisie football for another season, but it wasn’t satisfying for the fans, who expected more from their club, at all. There still isn’t light at the end of the tunnel though.. The Breda outfit had to deal with financial problems again, which resulted in a summer without the big signings. A lot of regulars left the club as well, which isn’t ideal during the preparation for a new season. Regulars like Donny Gorter, Milano Koenders, Robbert Schilder and Santi Kolk left the club and it won’t be easy at all for NAC to fill the gaps. The first new signing is Mark Looms. The experienced left back played for Heracles Almelo and he will become a regular in Breda. His performances won’t push this side to a higher level though. Sepp de Roover played in the Eredivisie for Sparta Rotterdam and FC Groningen and he will replace Koenders on the right. Thilo Leugers came over on a loan deal from FC Twente, but he still has to show his qualities in The Netherlands. The Breda outfit also has some potential though. Players like Alex Schalk, Nemanja Gudelj and Eric Botteghin are more experienced now and these players are capable of improving this year. It won’t be easy at all though to play for a top ten position in the Eredivisie as it could be a bridge too far. The support in the Rat Verlegh Stadium is always great, but the club didn’t have the funds to respond to the departures. The side could surprise, but a top ten spot will be extremely difficult at the end of the day. Karelse will motivate his team though and experienced players like Kees Luijckx, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Anthony Lurling will have to lead this young and sometimes inexperienced formation. The KNVB Cup could a goal this season. The side are well-known cup fighters, but they were a bit unlucky with the draw in recent years to be honest. The motivation is definitely there and Karelse will have to look for a way to bag the points with fighting football.

NAC Breda fans are hoping for a top ten finish, but achieving that would be a miracle to be honest. A finishing spot between places 11 and 13 is the goal this season and they will have to perform from the start on to prevent a battle at the bottom of the league.

 handball Olympics, Croatia – Tunis / tunis 1st half  under 10,5 @ 1,8

Croatia is playing best defence ever, i cannot remember when they played so organized, pressing defence. They didnt recive 11 goals in neither game..1st destroyed Korea 31-21 (14-8 ht), than destroyed Serbia 23-31 (9-13 ht), than come hungary and +7, it was 26-19 (ht 11-9)..than biggiest victory, Euro champions Denmark is destroyed with +11, 32-21 (14-9 on ht) and last round big rival Spain 25-30 (10-11)..That are all good teams, much better than Tunis. Tunis was in much easyer group and i cannot see with this Croatia how can thaw make something..

Both Madrid and Milan have won their first two friendlies in the United States this year, with a Yankee Stadium clash set to blemish at least one record.

5 Barcelona v Manchester United

FC Barcelona vs Manchester United

Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden

Wednesday 8th August 2012, KO 20:00 (local time), 19:00 GMT

Manchester United last played Barcelona in Washington DC on 30th July 2011. The Red Devils won that match 2-1 with a 22nd minuted goal from Nani and a 76th minute winner from Michael Owen. Thiago Alcantara scored the only for the 2011 UEFA Champions League winners. The victory was widely celebrated being as it was only two months since the Barcelona side mauled Manchester United at Wembley in the UEFA Champions League final.

This match will be different as Barcelona will have a full side plus their talented youngsters. This means Manchester United will get a good match in before the curtain raiser away to Everton, just 12 days after the Barcelona match. The Old Trafford side have only scored three goals in pre-season so far, but only conceded once. Not a great start but pre-season matches are all about fitness, get a good fitness level now and players will feel the benefits when the season starts.

I would say the main Barcelona players to watch tomorrow night will be Lionel Messi, who scored 73 goals in all competitions last season, the usual suspects Xavi and Iniesta. For Manchester United I would say Wayne Rooney, who will want to open this seasons scoring account, Paul Scholes who will be up for the midfield challenge and Shinji Kagawa, who I would like to see against one of the best, if not the best sides in European and world football. I expect Valencia to fill in at right-back again, with Rio and Vidic in the centre and Evra on the left. Carrick and Scholes in midfield with Nani and Young on the wing, with Kagawa playing int the hole behind Rooney.

This match should be entertaining and I for one have been looking forward to this match since it was announced back in June.
