Scunthorpe – Portsmouth

you all probably know abouth big Portsmouth problems, no money, players left club..
Team news for Tuesday’s League One clash between Scunthorpe and Portsmouth at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe defender Paul Reid is doubtful for the home midweek tie.

Reid turned his ankle during the weekend defeat at Crewe and although he lasted the full 90 minutes the Iron skipper may miss out.

Manager Brian Laws will assess Reid’s fitness before deciding whether to recall fellow centre-half David Mirfin alongside Niall Canavan.

Mirfin has only recently returned from a two-month lay-off due to a knee injury.

Laws, who has no other new injury or suspension worries, is expected to retain Akpo Sodje and Karl Hawley up front.

Sodje is searching for his first goal since joining the Iron in early January, three games ago.

Midfielder Josh Walker returned to the substitutes’ bench on Saturday following an eight-game absence due to an ankle injury and illness and is pushing for his first appearance since late November.

Ricardo Rocha and David Connolly are injury doubts for struggling Portsmouth.

Defender Rocha came off during the first half of the 3-2 defeat by Colchester on Saturday with an ankle knock and striker Connolly had to be withdrawn at the interval after tweaking his hamstring.

Caretaker boss Guy Whittingham will see his threadbare squad reduced to just 15 senior players if the experienced duo are ruled out.

Gabor Gyepes is poised to return at centre-half while Liam Walker could replace Connolly in the starting line-up after coming on for the Irishman at the weekend.

Pompey have lost their last seven League One matches and are now just two points ahead of bottom club Hartlepool.

Conference, Southport – Lincoln  1 @ 2,35  5/10

Lincoln is 4 place above but just one point more. Just is Chalmers (mf 4/0) out for Southport but this is pick based on away injury problms:

The injury crisis engulfing Lincoln City could deprive them of nine first team players for tomorrow’s trip to Southport.
Already without captain Gary Mills (mf 18/0), Mo Fofana (mf 12/0), Peter Gilbert (df 10/0) and Rob Duffy (att 3/0), Jake Sheridan (illness, mf 24/0) and Scott Garner (knee, df 6/0) were added to the casualty list at the weekend.

So with bad form, without victory ion last 4 games they cannot be optimistic after all problems and Lincoln boss David Holdsworth describe his preparations as “chaotic”.

“It is an absolute nightmare,” he said.
“We are already without a number of first team players while Jake and Scott picked up injuries at the weekend.
“But that’s not the only problem, illness has been a worry too.
“I could be without nine players for Southport which would severely have an impact on us.
“But we’ll go up there patched up and whatever team I put out I expect them to give it a real go.”

Friendly International, South Africa vs  Norway  1 @ 2,1 3/10
Bafana Bafana is very near start of African Cup of Nations (19.1 have first game with Cape Verde) so there is no space for soem experiments. Now is also important resault because of winning mentality and self confidence.
Dean Furman was rested for the final session on Monday, 7 January. The midfielder joined camp on Sunday, 6 January after playing in an third round FA Cup tie for his club Oldham Athletic in England on Saturday (5 January). The coach will select from all available players who have all been given a clean bill of health apart from Furman.
On the other side ‘just friendly game’ for Norway. Only is Ardian Gashi in Helsingborg (Sweden), all other players are from domestic league. True, some of them haw lot international expirience like Bjørn Helge Riise (30/1), Erik Huseklepp (30/7), Espen Ruud (26/0) but 7 called up players are without international expirience and will debut today. Also two players with 1 cap, 3 players with 2 caps so i must take bet on hosts because of motivation, expirience, they are in competitive rythm and home field of course, fans expect resautl on AFCON. Also Norway will get chance to all 19 players in this game (hosts probably not because as i said no time for lot experiments and resault is also important for them)  Continue reading

1.6. friendly international

Italy friendly with Luxemburg wac canceled because of earthquake so boss Cesare Prandelli has no choice but to field his strongest side in the dress rehearsal for the opening Euro 2012 game against Spain and the good thing is Giorgio Chiellini is available after recovering from injury.

On the other side Russia has no win yet in two friendlyes (Uruguay 1-1 and Lithuania 0-0) so they need good game and victory for selfconfidence.

Hong Kong will have few debut players today.

On the other side Singapore also with few new players

“From the past trainings we went through, we looked good. Hopefully we can use these friendlies to perform for the AFF Suzuki Cup,” said Bahaikki.

Joining the experienced campaigners are newcomers Ahmed Fahmie of Tampines Rovers and LionsXII goalkeeper Hyrulnizam Juma’at.  While Hyrulnizam has been part of the recent squads, he has not started an ‘A’ international match.

Expected to start against Hong Kong, ‘Ah Lau’ responded, “Of course I feel confident. And this is a different level game, so I have to be much more focused. Being an international match, it’s definitely different from what we have been playing and I think it will test my ability level too. It’s a big test but I’m up for it.”

Malaysia (153 fifa rank) without topscorer Mohd Amri Yahyah (att 69/23), Mohd Amirul Hadi Zainal (mf 29/7), Baddrol Bakhtiar (mf 21/6),  Abdul Radzak (att 23/5), Putra Omar (df 27/0), Askhari (2/0) – all they was important and played in WC qualifications

Philippines (148 fifa rank) without main golakeeper Neil Etheridge (Fulham, 33/0), Lucena from AGF,  Cristopher Greatwich (27/5), Simon Greatwich (mf 10/0), topscorer Phil Younghusband (34/24), James Younghusband (mf 44/6, chelsea scool), Dennis Cagara (2/0 but debut few month ago, he was in all youth Denmark national teams), Ray Jónsson (df 24/0)

   Kazakhstan – Kyrgyzstan

Kazahstan has two ‘foreign’ players, other are locals. On the other side for Kyrgyzstan players Kazah’s league is El Dorado, two of them are playing in Kazahstan (but in 52nd leadue). Difference is enormous
