Scunthorpe – Portsmouth

you all probably know abouth big Portsmouth problems, no money, players left club..
Team news for Tuesday’s League One clash between Scunthorpe and Portsmouth at Glanford Park.

Scunthorpe defender Paul Reid is doubtful for the home midweek tie.

Reid turned his ankle during the weekend defeat at Crewe and although he lasted the full 90 minutes the Iron skipper may miss out.

Manager Brian Laws will assess Reid’s fitness before deciding whether to recall fellow centre-half David Mirfin alongside Niall Canavan.

Mirfin has only recently returned from a two-month lay-off due to a knee injury.

Laws, who has no other new injury or suspension worries, is expected to retain Akpo Sodje and Karl Hawley up front.

Sodje is searching for his first goal since joining the Iron in early January, three games ago.

Midfielder Josh Walker returned to the substitutes’ bench on Saturday following an eight-game absence due to an ankle injury and illness and is pushing for his first appearance since late November.

Ricardo Rocha and David Connolly are injury doubts for struggling Portsmouth.

Defender Rocha came off during the first half of the 3-2 defeat by Colchester on Saturday with an ankle knock and striker Connolly had to be withdrawn at the interval after tweaking his hamstring.

Caretaker boss Guy Whittingham will see his threadbare squad reduced to just 15 senior players if the experienced duo are ruled out.

Gabor Gyepes is poised to return at centre-half while Liam Walker could replace Connolly in the starting line-up after coming on for the Irishman at the weekend.

Pompey have lost their last seven League One matches and are now just two points ahead of bottom club Hartlepool.

Injury worries for Cork ahead of Derry trip

Cork City make the long trip to Derry tomorrow, with manager Tommy Dunne facing an injury headache.

Young midfielder Brian Lenihan will miss the tie as he is on international duty Lenihan with the Republic of Ireland Under 19 side, while winger Daryl Horgan misses out through suspension. John Dunleavy (ankle), Colin Healy (thigh strain), Cathal Lordan (knee) and Eoghan Murphy (ankle) are all ruled out through injury, while defenders Dan Murray and Neal Horgan will also miss out. Mark McNulty, Danny Murphy and Vinny Sullivan all return from suspension, after missing the defeat to Shamrock Rovers last week.

Dunne told CorkCityFC.net that despite a lengthy injury list, his side will be aiming to pick up a result at the Brandywell: “Going to the Brandywell is always a long trip for us, but it is a good venue to play in. We need to pick up points there if we can, because it is at the point in the season where every point really matters. Although we are without a number of players, we still have aspirations of getting something from the game.”

“In the last number of weeks, with the exception of the UCD game, I think we have performed reasonably well. We need to be solid and make sure that we do not give anything away that will give us an uphill battle to get a result from the game.”

Injury News: John Dunleavy, Colin Healy, Cathal Lordan, Eoghan Murphy, Dan Murray, Neal Horgan.
